Lazer Skate Inline Hockey

Quick Rules

 

  1. All games will consist of three (3) running clock periods (12-minute for Squirts; 15-minute for PeeWee, Bantam & High School; 16-minute for Adults).   Stop-clock will occur in the last 2-minutes when the score is within 2 goals.
  2. During the regular season, tie games will be decided by a 4-player shootout.  If still tied after 4 shooters, the game remains tied.  During the playoffs, if games are tied the teams will play a 5-minute running-clock sudden death overtime, and if still tied, a 4-player shootout.  If still tied after the 4 shooters, a "Sudden Victory" shootout will commence until a winner is determined.
    For Championship games only, 5-minute overtime periods will be played until a winner is determined.
  3. Each team is allowed (2) 1-minute time-outs per game (maximum of (1) per period). A minor penalty for delay of game will be issued if a time out is called not meeting these criteria.  Adult teams are allowed only one time-out.
  1. Games may start up to 15 minutes prior to scheduled time of game. If a team does not show up for the game after 15 minutes, they will forfeit the game.
  2. The maximum roster limit is fourteen (14), including goalies. No player may be rostered on more than one (1) team in the same division.  Non-roster skaters will not be allowed at any time. If a non-roster or “illegal” player is found to be playing, the team will automatically forfeit all games the illegal player participated in.
  3. Adult team rosters are frozen after the 3rd game.  Substitutes are permissible; however, the opposing captain has the right to allow or refuse any substitutions.  A player must have participated in at least 4 regular season games minimum to be eligible for playoffs.
  4.  All players (or parents if under 18) must sign a waiver form and code-of-conduct sheet prior to the first practice.
  5. Mercy Rule- Once a ten (10) goal differential is reached, the game will automatically be over. At that point, the teams may be allowed to scrimmage, or practice on their half of the floor for the remainder of the game time running clock. If time can be made up by the Sports Plex, they shall do so at their discretion.
  6. Players in their respective league must be that age or younger on the age determination date. Adult divisions have a minimum age limit of 18 (goaltenders must be at least 16). High school age must be 18 or younger on the first day of school. 18U teams must have an adult on the bench at all times. Birth certificates may be required upon request.  The Sports Plex reserves the right to move players and/or teams between divisions at any time in the best interest of the league.
  7.  Teams must have three players and one goalie on the floor at game time or the team will forfeit that game.
  8. Any player damaging the floor intentionally will be responsible for repair costs of  $20 per tile.
  9. Adult B-division, Midget (High School B) division, and all Youth division players will be limited to scoring a maximum of 3 goals per game.  Any subsequent goals will be disallowed, and a penalty will be assessed.  This will apply to overtime(s) and shoot-outs also.

 

The Sports Plex will not tolerate any violent or unsportsmanlike behavior. We reserve the right to take corrective actions against any player or players. OUR PURPOSE IS TO MAKE THIS A FUN, ENJOYABLE, AND ENTERTAINING SPORTING EXPERIENCE

 

MISCONDUCTS & RULES

 

1.     All team captains/coaches are responsible for all players’ action on their team on and off the rink.

2.    All team captains/coaches are responsible to ensure the bench area and locker room are cleaned up after their game.

3.    All teams are responsible for the conduct of their spectators. In the event a spectator becomes disruptive during a game, penalties can and will be assessed against the specific spectator’s team.

4.     Any coach or player deemed to be under the influence of alcohol as determined by Sports Plex personnel shall be immediately ejected from any game, and subject to more suspensions.

5.      NO CHECKING – only incidental contact will be allowed.

6.  NO FIGHTING- players will receive an automatic suspension. (1st incident: 1 game suspension.  2nd incident: 3 game suspension.  3rd incident: suspended for the remainder of the season.)

7.    Any player receiving 3 minor penalties in one game will be ejected for the remainder of that game.

8.      Any player receiving a major penalty for misconduct, the Referee and Sports Plex management reserve the right to issue a game ejection, game misconduct, or match penalty.

9.      Any player receiving a game misconduct will miss the remainder of that game.

10.    Any player receiving a second game misconduct during the same season will miss the remainder of that game and the next game scheduled for his team.

11.  Any player receiving a third game misconduct during the season will automatically be suspended for a minimum of three (3) games. Any suspension not served during a season will automatically carry over the un-served portion into the next season that player plays, if applicable.

12.  Any player accumulating two 10-minute misconducts during a game will be credited with a game misconduct.

13.  For any player receiving a season or indefinite suspension, the Sports Plex reserves the right, at its discretion, to suspend the player for all leagues that player participates in for that season or longer.

14.  Any player or team suspended for a game or more may not play in any other division, and is not allowed in the building until the suspension is served.

15.  Major penalties result in a 5-minute penalty and automatic Game Misconduct.

 



Equipment

 

1.   The Home Team is responsible for changing jersey colors if two teams play each other have similar jersey colors. All jerseys must be the same color, and must have a permanent number on the back.

2.       Only non-marking tape may be used on stick blades.

3.       All players must wear all mandatory equipment for all games and warm up.

Hockey Helmet (Full cage in all leagues except Adult and under 18 yrs old)

Internal Month guard (highly recommended)

Elbow Pads  (must be covered by jersey)

Shin Pads (must be covered with socks or pants)

Hockey Gloves

Rink Safe Skates (no exposed bolts or brakes)

Cup –males (highly recommended)

 

Goalkeepers:

With the exception of skates and stick, all the equipment worn by the goalkeeper must be constructed solely for the protection of the head or body, and must not include any garment or contrivance which would give the goalkeeper undue assistance in keeping goal. Abdominal aprons extending down the thighs or the outside of the pants are prohibited.

(a) The goalkeeper's blocker glove shall not exceed 8 inches in width nor 16 inches in length at any point. The maximum length of a goalkeeper's catching glove shall not exceed 17 inches. The cuff shall not exceed 9 inches in width. Any bar or attachment between the cuff and the thumb shall only extend in a straight line. Any other pocket or pouch added to the glove by a manufacturer or otherwise is not acceptable and makes the glove illegal. For a violation of this rule, a minor penalty shall be assessed.

(b) The leg guards worn by goalkeepers shall not exceed 12 inches in extreme width when on the leg of the player. For a violation of this rule, a minor penalty shall be assessed.

(c) It is mandatory for all goalkeepers to wear a helmet designed for hockey with helmet strap properly fastened and a full-face mask designed for hockey with a chin cup. All goalkeepers must wear chest protection. Throat protection is recommended.



Tie-Breaker Rules:

At the end of a League Season or at the end of round robin of any Playoff / Tournament, should only two teams be tied in points, the tie breaker will be head-to-head results.  If 3 or more teams are tied, the tie-breaker format will be in this order:

 

1. Total points during the playoff/tournament  (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie or overtime loss, 0 points for a loss)

2. Least total goals allowed by the team during the course of the playoff / tournament.

3. Most goals scored by a team during the course of the playoff / tournament.

4. Least penalty minutes by a team during the course of the playoff / tournament.

5. When all tie breakers have been exhausted a coin flip will take place.




Referee Signals

Boarding
Pounding the closed fist of one hand into the other.
Called for driving an opponent into the boards.
Charging
Rotating clenched fists in front of chest.
Called for taking more than three strides before checking opponent.
Cross Checking
A forward and backward motion with fists extended from the chest.
Delayed Calling of Penalty
Referee extends arm and points to penalized player.
Elbowing
Tapping the elbow with the opposite hand.
Highsticking
Holding both fists clenched, one above the other at the side of the head.
Holding
Clasping the wrists in front of the chest.
Hooking
Tugging motion with the arms.
Interference
Crossed arms in front of chest with fists closed.
Kneeing
Slapping the knee with palm of hand.

Misconduct
Place both hands on hips.
Roughing
A thrusting motion with the arm extending from the side.
Slashing
Chopping with one hand across the opposite forearm.
Spearing
A jabbing motion with both hands in front of the body.
Tripping
Strike the right leg with the right hand below the knee.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Use both hands to form a "T" in front of chest.
Wash-Out
Both arms swung across the body with palms down.
